Our Software, including our websites https://showca.se and https://showca.se, tablet and mobile applications, and any related Services delivered by Showcase on partner websites and applications are owned and operated by Showcase.
Showcase is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. We recognise that your privacy is important to you and therefore we endeavour to keep your personal information confidential. For example, to protect your privacy and security, we take reasonable steps (such as requesting a unique password) to verify your identity before granting access to a user’s account or making changes to a user’s account information. However, we do not represent, warrant, or guarantee that your personal information will be protected against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alterations, and do not accept any liability for the security of the personal information submitted to us nor for your or third parties’ use or misuse of personal information. You are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique Password and account information at all times.
You have control over what you share, and you can update information at any time. You can:
- Review and edit your personal information through your Personal Profile (You need to be logged in to do this).
- Control what information you make available on your public profile and who can view your public profile through the Privacy Settings (You need to be logged in to do this).
- Control what information you make available on your full profile and who can view your full profile through the Privacy Settings (You need to be logged in to do this).
- Control who can view your event status (eg events you’re attending) the Privacy Settings (You need to be logged in to do this).
Information We May Collect About You
We may collect and process the following data about you: When you register an account to become a Showcase user (“user”) we ask that you provide us with various profile information, such as your name, e-mail, employer, job title and a password. Once you become a Showcase user you can update this information and/or provide additional profile information. When you use our Services to view and interact with pages, features, functionality and software, including adding content, marking event attendance/interest, sharing content, becoming a company member and other activities. For example, if you mark that you are attending an event then depending on the your privacy settings this information may be shared publicly, shared with just your connections or kept private. When you use Showcase to connect with others (eg sending invitations to become connections) Showcase will send notifications to the email addresses you provide and, if they are already registered as a Showcase user, to their Showcase user accounts too. Please note that your email address will not be displayed on these notifications, however upon becoming a Showcase connection they will have access to your email address.
When you use Showcase to manually add contacts or import data about your contacts, regardless if they are a Showcase user, this information is viewable only by you. You may choose to invite these contacts to become Showcase connections.
When you subscribe to our service or requesting further services.
If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence.
If you submit content that requires Showcase moderation or approval, such as creating a new company or event, we will be able to access your contact information.
We may also ask you to complete surveys that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to them.
Details of transactions you carry out through our Services and of the fulfilment of your orders.
Details of your visits to our Services whether this is required for our own billing purposes or otherwise and the resources that you access.
We may also ask you for information when you choose to complete a survey, complete a poll, enter a competition or promotion sponsored by Showcase.
We use certain non-personally-identifiable information, including where available your Internet Protocol (IP) address, operating system, browser type, mobile carrier, your ISP, user location, anonymous usage data, clickstream data, referring sites, and sites that have embedded Showcase platform technology) to improve the quality and design of our Services, to create new features and to report aggregate information to our customers, sponsors and/or advertisers. This is based statistical data about our users' browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual.
Showcase offers users the option to:
- Register via their LinkedIn account; or
- Link their existing Showcase account to their LinkedIn account.
This is for the convenience of each user - for example:
- The user can sign in to Showcase using their LinkedIn credentials.
- Showcase user profile can be automatically populated from their LinkedIn account.
- LinkedIn connections can be accessed from within Showcase, to facilitate easy interaction.
We conform to LinkedIn Platform Guidelines, which protects the privacy of users and their LinkedIn connections – for example:
- We do not store LinkedIn data for longer than 24 hours. Temporary storage is to improve system performance and user experience.
- We will ask for user permission before posting LinkedIn network updates or sending invitations to LinkedIn connections.
- We will not contact your LinkedIn connections without your permission.
Where We Store Your Personal Data
Uses Made of the Information
We use information held about you in the following ways: To ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you through our Services; To enable you to share your information and activities, and communicate with other users. This includes sharing your information and communicating with other users who are members of the same Company as you, even if they are not your Showcase connections; To enable you to record your activities on your “Trail” and share this information (including metrics about these activities) with members of your Company and/or with your connections, contacts and other users; To allow you to participate in our interactive features, when you choose to do so; To provide you with information, products or services that you request from us or which we feel may interest you. We will only contact you about third party products or services where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes; To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us; To notify you about changes to our service; To verify your account and, if required, contact you in regard to your account; We may use your email address without further consent for non-marketing or administrative purposes (such as notifying you of major changes to our Services, for customer service purposes or to verify and moderate content you submit to Showcase); If a Showcase user adds you as a lead and shares this with her/his company then your contact information will be shared with that company; Where we permit selected third parties to use your data, we (or they) will contact you by electronic means only if you have consented to this.
We use information held about you to enable other users to view your public profile. Per default Privacy Settings your contact details will not be displayed unless the user is one of your Showcase connections. The following are examples of how we do this: To enable organisers of the event(s) you have marked as attending/interested to communicate with you; To provide a list of attendees to other attendees, exhibitors and organiser(s) of that event; To enable other Showcase users to use the ‘search’ function; To enable other Showcase users to view your profile if you are listed as an exhibitor representative at an event for your company; To enable members of the same company to view the full list of that company’s members; To provide a list of company representatives for each event’s exhibits. This information is optional and can be added by your Company or yourself (depending on user permissions); To publish some of your activities on your connections’ “News Feed” such as events you have marked as ‘attending’ or listing your new connections.
Any personal information or other content that you voluntarily disclose online (for example, your public profile) may become publicly available. This information could be collected and used by others. Any post made that you submit to the Services may be redistributed through the Internet and other media, and could be viewed by the general public. You can update your Privacy Settings to control which of your personal information can be viewed by different user groups.
We retain the personal information we collect from you for as long as the information is relevant to our business purposes or until you request that we remove the data by contacting Showcase using the contact information provided below. We do not use your email address, phone number, or other personally identifiable information to send commercial or marketing messages without your consent or except as part of a specific program or feature for which you will have the ability to opt-in or opt-out. We do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to our advertisers or sponsors, but we may provide them with aggregate information about our users (for example, we may inform them that 500 users have clicked on their advertisement on any given day). We may also use such aggregate information to help advertisers and sponsors reach the kind of audience they want to target (for example, users based in the United Kingdom). We may make use of the personal data we have collected from you to enable us to comply with our advertisers' or sponsors’ wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience. Our Services may contain links to and from third party websites. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to these websites.
Disclosure of Your Information
We DO NOT sell, rent, or otherwise share identifiable personal information to Third Party companies for marketing purposes.
We may disclose personal information only to our employees, contractors, and affiliated organisations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Showcase’s behalf or to provide products and services available on Showcase, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006. We may also disclose your personal information to entities acting as our agents, representatives or partners.
We may share non-personally-identifiable information (such as anonymous usage data and patterns on our Services) with third parties who work on our behalf or to improve our products and services. To fulfill your requests for purchase of our products or services we may share your payment information a third party store or payment processor, over whose privacy policies we do not have control. We may include or offer third party products or services on our Services. These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our Services and welcome any feedback about these third party sites.
You may view or edit your personal information and Privacy Settings at any time. The accuracy of such information is solely your responsibility.
You have the right to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. We will usually inform you if we intend to use your data for such purposes or if we intend to disclose your information to any third party for such purposes. You can exercise your right to prevent such processing by checking certain boxes on the forms we use to ask your consent to disclose your data. Access to Information
The Act gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.
